Balvin sings in Spanish on the euphoric “Positivo,” a collaborative version of Brun’s “Bayo,” a song first released by the 25-year-old Haitian artist and producer in Haitian creole, rooted in the mesmerizing rhythms of Afro-Haitian festival music rara.
“The song is about that energy you feel giving a hundred percent to what you do,” Brun told Billboard earlier this week. “I think it’s the perfect spirit for a World Cup song.”
Brun described the experience of working with the Colombian urban star as “a vibe so good it was contagious.”
A statement from Telemundo said that “Positivo” “aligns with the overall concept and message behind Telemundo Deportes’ multiplatform marketing campaign that aims to rally Latinos across the country around the most anticipated, global sporting event — the FIFA World Cup Russia.” The song will be used across the Telemundo and Universo channels and all Telemundo Deportes digital platforms, including versions produced exclusively for social media leading up to and around the coverage of the World Cup.
Telemundo’s complete coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will kick off with the opener on Thursday, June 14, and will include live coverage of all 64 games through the World Cup final on Sunday, July 15.
